SIAMS Inspection May 2025
On 20th May 2025, we received a visit from the Church of England's SIAMS team. SIAMS stands for Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools.
Inspection activities included discussion with school's leaders, staff, parents, learners, the RE Subject Leader and governors. Evidence was also gathered from observing Collective Worship and through through learning walks ,
The Inspector focused on:
- the distinctiveness and effectiveness of St. John's as a Church of England school
- the school, through its distinctive Christian character, meeting the needs of all learners
- the impact of Collective Worship on the school community
- the effectiveness of the leadership and management of the school as a church school
St John's Angell Town Primary was found to be living up to it's foundation as a Church school and is enabling pupils and adults to flourish.
The report highlighted many strengths which have been highlighted below:
- Leaders have developed a Christian vision that meets the needs of the school community very effectively. It shapes decisions and actions, enabling pupils and adults to flourish together joyfully.
- The vision inspires leaders to build a culture that fosters loving relationships. The welfare of pupils and adults is of the highest priority. As a result, the level of care that is provided enables the school community to live well together.
- Driven by the aspirational vision, leaders ensure that provision for those who have additional needs is highly effective.
- In skilfully adapting the curriculum and providing bespoke support, staff empower pupils to thrive in their learning.
- Religious education (RE) is very well led. Effective monitoring and evaluation lead to clearly planned actions.
- This ensures that the subject remains relevant in meeting the needs of an increasingly diverse school community.
We are all very thankful that the work we do for our learners and our St John's family is outstanding and are blessed that we have such a hardworking and passionate team that inspire children to achieve very high results whilst bringing joy to the lives of others.
