"I became a school governor for the first time at St. John's in 2015 after becoming a regular worshipper at St John the Evangelist and a local to Brixton.   My professional background is in law, which has equipped me well to scrutinise and challenge to support the leadership team at St John's.  I have a special interest in reading and am currently supporting the school to create a library for our learners".

Chris Taylor

I am a chartered accountant working for one of the large accounting firms in London. I worship at St. Margaret’s, Chipstead, where I have been Church Treasurer and Churchwarden.

When I became a Governor at St John’s, there was a link between St John’s and St Margaret’s parishes. Through this link, an advert appeared in a Sunday pew sheet seeking someone with financial experience to join the Board of Governors at St John’s. I felt a strong calling to respond to this.

Since that time, I can honestly say that it has been an honour to serve as a Governor of the school. I have been blessed to have had an opportunity to meet so many inspiring people both within the school and within the local community.

I am married with two daughters – one is at university, and the other is in her final year of school.

Patricia Omonua

I am delighted to take up my first governor's role at St John’s Angell Town; I am a mother of three children and am passionate about high-quality education and each and every child reaching their full potential at St John’s Angell Town.

I hope to represent other parents to ensure all the children at the school have the best possible start in life: This relates to the education provided and an environment that is caring, supportive, helpful and nurturing.

I look forward to working with the school community's children, staff and families.

My name is Maria McBean, and I am a foundation governor. I have lived in Brixton all my adult life.

I chose to serve on the governing body because I noticed a decline in the number of children who go to St John’s school coming to church on Sundays. I think that church and school could work together a bit more.

My children were once students at St John’s school, and we attended church regularly.

I was a parent governor, vice chair and, for a short period, the chair of the governing body. I have memories of being interviewed by OFSTED in the porta cabin for an hour during that time!

I am passionate about children being happy at primary school and being allowed to develop basic skills that will equip them to continue their future learning journey.

I have worked in schools since 2002, so I have some experience with how schools operate, there have been many changes in that time, and I feel that as a governor, I can contribute in a positive and reflective way.
